Gross Things Women Do Over 60 Do
Think women over 60 have left their embarrassing habits behind? Think again. Behind closed doors, there are some surprisingly gross little things plenty of women do — but would be absolutely mortified to admit in public.
Most will laugh at #2, plenty will secretly admit to #3… but #5 is the one nobody wants to own up to. 😳 How many are you guilty of?
1. Giving Clothes The Secret Sniff Test
There's clean.
There's dirty.
And then there's that mysterious category known as:
“I only wore it for a few hours.”
You pick something up from the bedroom chair and immediately face an important decision.
Does it really need washing?
There's only one way to find out.
Sniff.
Maybe a second sniff for confirmation.
If it passes the test, congratulations — apparently it's clean again.
Bras can be particularly guilty of mysteriously avoiding the washing basket. A favourite one fits perfectly, feels comfortable and works under everything, so putting it in the wash means temporarily losing it.
How many wears is too many?
Perhaps some questions are better left unanswered.
2. Inspecting Those Random Chin Hairs
You look in the mirror one morning and everything seems perfectly normal.
Then the sunlight hits your face from a different angle.
WHAT IS THAT?!
Somehow, an enormous chin hair has appeared overnight — and judging by its length, it seems to have been quietly growing since 2007.
Out come the tweezers.
You grab it.
You pull.
Success.
But does it immediately go in the bin?
Of course not.
First, you have to inspect it.
You hold it up. Look at its ridiculous length. Perhaps even wonder how everybody you've spoken to this week somehow failed to mention it.
Then comes the panic.
If there's one...
Are there more?
Suddenly you're practically inside the bathroom mirror searching your entire face.
3. Picking At Things You KNOW You Should Leave Alone
You spot something tiny on your skin.
Maybe it's a spot.
A scab.
A bit of peeling skin.
A blocked pore.
You know exactly what you're supposed to do.
Leave. It. Alone.
So naturally, you touch it.
Then you squeeze it.
Then you move approximately two inches away from the mirror so you can really investigate what's going on.
Five minutes later, the almost invisible little mark has become bright red and approximately four times its original size.
You stand back and admire your work.
“Why did I do that?”
Excellent question.
You'll probably ask yourself exactly the same thing next time.
4. Wearing The Same Comfy Clothes For Far Too Long
Once you find the perfect pair of pyjamas, leggings or dressing gown, normal clothing rules cease to apply.
They're soft.
They're comfortable.
They're already out.
And you're only wearing them around the house anyway.
So you wear them again.
And again.
And then you reach the dangerous stage where you've genuinely forgotten when they were last washed.
The dressing gown is particularly powerful.
Put it on first thing in the morning and somehow it's still attached to you at lunchtime.
Then the doorbell rings.
You look down.
Oh dear.
Even worse, it's somebody who visited two days ago.
And you're wearing exactly the same thing.
Just confidently answer the door.
They don't need to know.
5. Looking At Something Disgusting Before Throwing It Away
And finally, we arrive at the habit nobody particularly wants to discuss.
Your body produces something strange.
Maybe you've blown your nose.
Coughed something up.
Pulled something out of your hair.
Found something unusual on a tissue.
A normal person would immediately throw it away.
But apparently there's a tiny scientist living inside all of us who says:
“Hang on… let's have a look at that.”
So you do.
You inspect it.
Perhaps you even bring it slightly closer.
Why?
WHY?!
You already know it's disgusting.
Looking at it isn't going to improve the situation.
And yet somehow your brain demands a brief forensic examination before allowing the offending item anywhere near the bin.
The funniest part?
If somebody walked into the room while you were doing it, you'd dispose of the evidence immediately and pretend absolutely nothing happened.
Be Honest… How Many Did You Do?
One?
Two?
All five? 😳
The truth is, getting older doesn't magically turn anyone into a permanently sophisticated human being.
We all have private habits we'd rather not demonstrate in polite company.
We sniff clothes.
We attack things in the mirror.
We investigate mysterious hairs.
And sometimes that favourite pair of pyjamas gets considerably more mileage than we'd publicly admit.
So if you recognised yourself somewhere on this list, don't worry.
Just remember one important rule:
If nobody saw you do it, it never happened. 😂
